The last snow - part 1

“Mom, I am leaving.” She said as she hurriedly wears her sweater leaving for her college. She was late again. Professor Michelle was marking attendance. She called for Roshni and there was no answer for the first time. She called out her name one more time. “Present, Mam.” A voice was heard breathing heavily. Prof. Michelle turned towards the classroom entrance and gave her a glance and asked her to come in.

Who keeps a morning class in this lousy winter. I just hate it! She thought.

Roshni was 18. A good looking and well behaved girl (only in presence of her parents). She loves rock music and hates shopping. Her favorite pass time is to watch action movies back to back. She hates books and somehow manages to get average grades.

Rubbing her hands with each other she immediately grabbed her seat beside Sneha. Sneha gave her “When will you learn to be punctual” look and started concentrating on the mathematics class. Another bad thing in Roshni's life. She just hates numbers. Half of the class was busy making calculations where others were dozing off. “Sorry to disturb Ms. Michelle. I have a short announcement to the class. May I? ” A orotund voice makes the class dead silent. He was one of the those typical college principals, well dressed paired with old fashioned spectacles and whose principles were hard to follow. “Ya ya. Of-course”, Ms. Michelle makes a way for him to come to the center of the class.

Sneha is Roshni's only best friend, who loves shopping. And drags Roshni wherever she goes to hunt for clothes. Roshni has no escape when comes to Sneha. She can't tell her no as she is the only person who knows her more than anyone. And it's only because of her Roshni manages to pass her exams.

“Good morning students, I hope you guys are studying well and learning to be in college on time.” Principal said rolling his eyeballs to Roshni. He continued, “I am here to introduce you to Mr. Rohan. Your new classmate.” And Rohan enters the classroom. The principal asks him to make himself comfortable and grab a seat. He sits on a bench accompanying two students. The principal continues, “He has recently shifted to the town with his family. I hope you guys bond well with each other. Thank you.” And leaves.

'Phew, Thank you God! I escaped the self intro to the class scenario!' Rohan thought.

Rohan had a calm face and posture. He loves to stay alone. He had no friends and never makes any. Being a son of an army officer was not so easy. He enjoyed the company of Bruno. His pet dog. Painting was his passion more than a hobby.

Ms. Michelle greets him with a smile. Rohan smiles back at her. Ms. Michelle, “Rohan make yourself comfortable. And since you are new in the college, Roshni will help in showing you the college around and helping you few basic things like a library card, meal coupon, etc.” pointing towards Roshni.

'Phew, better punishment than writing a book report!' Roshni thought.

Rohan stealing a look from Roshni payed attention to the problem scribbled on the board. Roshni was as disinterested as look at Rohan as she was in the class.

"Find the derivative of 6x+...", before Ms. Mischelle can continue the interval bell rang. Roshni was delighted that finally the torture ended for the day, while Sneha was super excited to check out the new guy.

Roshni pulled her backpack and was about to leave the class. Sneha stopped her by saying, "Hey. You have a work to do." "What? Seriously, You think I am gonna do that?" Roshni with a disgusted look. "Rosh.. It's okay. I will do it for you, but you can at least accompany me." with a wink Sneha urged her. "OKAY. Fine!" Roshni with no other option.

Come and check back later to know what happens next till I grab myself a cup of coffee...
